LASER TOOLS RACING JOINS JCW GRID WITH NELSON KING

The Laser Tools Racing name will feature in the Vertu Motors MINI CHALLENGE through the remainder of the 2023 season as a result of a new partnership with series front-runner Nelson King and the Graves Motorsport team.

King joined the JCW grid for the first time this year on the back of a dominant championship-winning campaign in the MINI CHALLENGE Trophy last season with Graves Motorsport, taking eleven victories in 19 starts and only finishing off the podium three times.

Following the successes of 2022, King moved up into the premier class of the MINI CHALLENGE at the start of the year having extended his deal with the Graves team into a second season.

The 20-year-old picked up a podium finish on the opening weekend of the year at Donington Park and secured his first JCW victory at Snetterton, with a further podium at Oulton Park ensuring that he entered the summer break sitting fourth in the points.

As part of his deal with Laser Tools Racing, the #95 entry – which will continue to be run as normal by the Graves Motorsport team – will sport a revised livery when the JCW season resumes at Knockhill next month.

The new colour scheme is the same as the one seen on the BMW of British Touring Car Championship front-runner Jake Hill, who is competing under the Laser Tools Racing banner for the first time this year.

Laser Tools previously backed Aiden Moffat and Ash Sutton in the BTCC, with the latter scoring two of his three titles under the Laser Tools Racing name.

“I’m absolutely thrilled to announce that I’ll be joining forces with Laser Tools Racing in my pursuit of the MINI CHALLENGE title for the remainder of the 2023 season,” King said.

“As an iconic presence in the BTCC, it’s an immense honour to become part of their team. I am deeply grateful for the confidence they’ve demonstrated in me, and I’m eager to represent this prestigious brand on the track.”

Laser Tools chairman Martin Smith was also delighted to confirm the brand’s move into the MINI CHALLENGE with King and the Graves Motorsport squad.

“We are delighted to partner with Nelson King in the MINI CHALLENGE JCW category,” he said.

“Nelson’s talent, determination, and impressive results make him a perfect fit for our team. We look forward to providing him with the support and resources needed to further his racing career and to witness his continued growth and success.”
