JENSON MASON REJOINS MINI CHALLENGE TROPHY GRID AT THRUXTON

Jenson Mason will make his return to the Mairon Motorsport MINI CHALLENGE Trophy grid at Thruxton after confirming an entry into the fourth meeting of the season.

Mason made his debut in the series last season with the Wera Alliance Racing Academy team having graduated from the Fiesta Junior Championship, picking up his maiden victory with a dominant performance at the same circuit where he will now make his return.

The teenager also ended the season as one of the form drivers on the grid, picking up three podium finishes from the final four races and breaking the lap record around the Brands Hatch Indy circuit.

With his racing action this season having so far been limited to an outing in the opening rounds of TCR UK, Mason will return to the Cooper grid as a privateer entry hoping to try and replicate the front-running pace he displayed last year at the quickest circuit on the calendar.

Whilst currently only entered for the Thruxton meeting, Mason remains hopeful of securing the backing required to contest further events before the end of the year with his main focus on putting together a full season programme for the 2027 campaign.

“I’m really pleased to be returning to the MINI CHALLENGE Trophy, particularly because it will be at Thruxton,” he said.

“It’s one of my favourite circuits and obviously I have good memories of taking my first win in the series last season, so I’m looking forward to seeing how I get on this time around.

“Being back in front of a big BTCC crowd is also really exciting and hopefully I can come away from the weekend with some strong results as we work to try and find the support for some more outings later in the year.”
