SAM GORNALL SET FOR JCW DEBUT ON MINI CHALLENGE RETURN

Cooper race winner Sam Gornall will make a return to the MINI CHALLENGE for the 2026 season after confirming an entry into the headline JCW class.

The 19-year-old will form part of an expanded line-up at Pro Alloys Racing as the team embarks on its second season in the series, with Gornall returning to the UK following a season competing on the continent.

Lancashire racer Gornall made his MINI CHALLENGE debut in the Cooper class back in 2023, scoring three podium finishes in his rookie campaign.

Returning to the grid in 2024, Gornall was embroiled in a titanic battle for the title with team-mate Harry Hickton before eventually finishing as runner-up by just two points having bagged an impressive eleven podium finishes from 21 starts – including four wins.

Moving into the Clio Cup Series in mainland Europe, Gornall went on to secure the Mid-Europe Junior title but now makes his long-awaited move up to a MINI CHALLENGE JCW machine looking to impress towards the sharp end of the field.

“I really enjoyed my season in Europe last year, and it was an amazing experience to compete at famous circuits like Spa and Monza,” he said.

“However, I have unfinished business when it comes to the MINI CHALLENGE, and am delighted to now have the chance to join forces with Pro Alloys Racing and make the move into a JCW car for 2026.

“The team really impressed me last season considering it was their first year on the grid, and I’m confident that they will be the team to beat this season.

“This is the natural next step for me in my racing career and I can’t wait to get started at Donington Park next month.”

Pro Alloys Racing team manager Neil Greenland was quick to welcome Gornall into the team, with the youngster being the second driver confirmed in the 2026 line-up alongside Max Edmundson – who finished as championship runner-up last year and clinched the Rookie Cup crown.

“As Pro Alloys Racing continues to grow, we’re delighted to welcome Sam to the team,” he said. “After a really encouraging breakout rookie season for us, bringing a talented driver like Sam into the line-up is another positive step forward.

“He’s a great fit for the team and we look forward to working with him as we aim to hit the ground running and continue building on the progress we made last year!”
