Josh Price will make his return to racing for the first time since 2019 after joining EXCELR8’s Vertu MINI CHALLENGE programme.

The 25-year-old will make his debut in the JCW class this weekend at Snetterton as he bids to relaunch his racing career, having previously competed in both the British Touring Car Championship and the British GT Championship.

Price also has experience of one-make racing from his time in the Renault Clio Cup, where he scored a best championship finish of sixth.

“I’m really excited to be joining the MINI CHALLENGE, and am keen to try and progress back to where was earlier in my career when I was part of the BTCC,” he said. “This is the first step towards that, and I’m really looking forward to getting back into a race car and seeing how I get on.

“In EXCELR8, I know I have a team behind me that has a huge amount of pedigree and expertise in the series, which is all part of the appeal for both myself and my sponsors – alongside the high profile that being on the BTCC platform provides.

“Having been out of racing for a good few years, I’m have no real expectations going into this weekend because everyone else obviously has two rounds under their belt already, so it’s case of having as much fun as possible and seeing how I get on.”

Team owner Justina Williams said she was pleased to bring Price into the team, and was confident he could make an impression on track in the ex-Sam Weller championship winning car.

“We’re really pleased that Josh has chosen to join us as he relaunches his racing career,” she said.

“He is a driver who displayed a lot of talent on his way up the ladder to the BTCC when he was younger, and we are excited to see how gets on at the wheel of the JCW during the remainder of the season.”
