ALEX DENNING CONFIRMS 2022 JCW PROGRAMME

On the back of a one-off outing in the series last season, Alex Denning has confirmed that he will make a full-time move into the JCW class of the Quaife MINI CHALLENGE for the 2022 season with Graves Motorsport.

The Irish racer teamed up with JamSport for the Donington Park meeting last year, qualifying in tenth spot despite limited track time ahead of the weekend then grabbing a best finish of eleventh from the three races.

That outing was part of a season where Denning – winner of the 2020 Irish Fiesta ST Championship – competed in a race of different series in order to evaluate the various options available for the next stage of his career.

Having chosen to join the MINI CHALLENGE grid, Denning will now join forces with Graves for his full-time switch into the BTCC support series and is the third driver named by the Colchester-based outfit in an expanded JCW programme alongside race winner Max Coates and 2020 Cooper class champion Harry Nunn.

Denning will be supported by Motorsport Ireland, The Tanning Shop, Howard Recovery, Jones Investments and Pannonia Bio.

“I am over the moon to have signed for Graves Motorsport for the 2022 MINI CHALLENGE UK JCW Championship,” he said. “Competing on the BTCC package has been a childhood dream for me and now it’s become a reality. I would like to thank all my sponsors for making this happen, I can’t wait to start testing.”

Team manager David Graves said he felt confident that Denning can be a front-runner during the year ahead.

“The promise Alex showed at Donington last year didn’t go unnoticed,” he said, “and we are delighted to add another champion to our 2022 JCW line-up. We are confident that Alex will achieve his ambition to be a consistent front runner this year.”

The new JCW season kicks off back at Donington Park on the weekend of 23/24 April.
