ENTRIES OPEN FOR EXPANDED MINI CHALLENGE TROPHY SEASON

The calendar for the 2022 MINI CHALLENGE Trophy has been officially confirmed, with entries now open for drivers looking to secure a place on one of the most competitive grids in British Motorsport.

Although 2022 will again feature seven race meetings, the calendar will be expanded from 17 races to 20, with the season running from early May through to November.

In an exciting development for the new season, the series will join forces with the British Truck Racing Championship for three meetings kicking off at Pembrey, which will host the current MINI CHALLENGE Trophy cars for the first time.

As has been the case for the past two seasons, the series will then join the support package for the British Touring Car Championship, with two rounds at Thruxton either side of a trip to Croft in North Yorkshire.

After rejoining the trucks at Snetterton, the penultimate meeting of the campaign will run alongside Britcar at Donington Park before the big finale at Brands Hatch on the annual Trucks and Fireworks weekend – one of the most popular and well attended events at the famous Kent circuit.

The move to join forces with the British Truck Racing Championship, and the continued partnership with the BTCC, will ensure that the MINI CHALLENGE Trophy title fight will be played out in front of huge crowds across the season, giving the series a higher profile than ever before.

In a further boost to the series, all seven rounds will feature live broadcast coverage, with the three BTCC meetings benefitting from coverage on ITV4 and the remaining meetings being live streamed through social media.

With the 2021 season having featured a titanic battle for the championship title that went right down to the wire, high levels of interest are expected for the new campaign.

After existing drivers were granted the opportunity to confirm their plans to return, entries have today (19 November) opened to anyone who would like to join the series, with a number of earlybird and loyalty discounts in place.

Places are expected to fill up quickly, with drivers and teams encouraged to lodge their entries as soon as possible to secure their place on the grid for what is set to be one of the biggest seasons in MINI CHALLENGE Trophy history.
