With Stu Lane, Tim Bill and Neil Ginley not running the field was down to just 9 cars. No real surprises, Jono Davis was flying with his rebuilt gearbox and clutch. A great pole lap of 1:07.257, Rob Austin was in P2 with Alan Lee in P3. Andy Montgomery stayed in touch with a P4. Followed by Kevin Owen, Samantha Bowler in her rebuilt car, a slow for him in P5 was Will Fairclough, with Turbo Issues. Chloe Hewitt again suffering due to lack of testing and Neil Brown bring up the rear having a new front end after a practice incident on Friday.

Cooper S Race 1

From the start, it looked like a lights to flag victory for Jono Davis. The 3rd lap saw Will Fairclough pull through the field to get up close to Jono, he overtook him by the third lap. Rob Austin was staying in touch, with Andy Montgomery close behind. On the 6th lap, Rob Austin passed Jono, Jono then had a puncture and pulled into the pits.

He did well to be classified as a finisher. Chloe and Andy Montgomery were having a great battle and Samantha Bowler joined in. Kevin Owen had a spin at Luffield on the opening lap and he slipped down the order. Neil Brown’s bonnet flew open again, it just would not stay shut. At the chequered flag, it was a delighted Will winning his 2nd race of the year, to consolidate his lead in the class. Rob Austin in P2 was delighted in P2 and an overjoyed Andy Montgomery in P3. His daughters too were overjoyed, “Daddy you have finally achieved something!”, the quote of the weekend award!

Cooper S Race 2

Reverse grid, with the first 4 places reversed. Chloe Hewitt on pole. With Andy Montgomery in P2. Rob Austin P3 and Will Fairclough in P4. Jono Davis was at the back, with Neil Brown deciding his weekend was over and non started. And then there were 8.

Lights out and what a race. Jono stormed through the field as expected and the race settled down to 3 groups of cars all racing each other. This made for a very exciting race. Jono finally got passed Will on lap 10. The ballast the Will had to carry clearly hampering his speed. Jono just pulled away with some very quick laps, taking the flag and fastest lap of 1:06.879. P2 went to Will, he was more than happy to add to his points haul. Andy Montgomery in P3 after a great race with Rob Austin, P5, Kevin Owen in P4. Samantha had a spin at Luffield letting Alan Lee through for P7 and Chloe, P6 to pick up the other places.

A superb race to watch, with some great moves. No red flags, no waved yellows, just great racing.
