CATCHING UP WITH: OLLIE PIDGLEY
Ollie is new to the MINI CHALLENGE but is most certainly not new to Racing. At just 20 years old he has a wealth of racing experience which is used to his advantage in the MINI CHALLENGE.
Ollie is from Salisbury, Wiltshire and his daily drive is a MINI Challenge 210!
Ollie started racing at the age of 9 and obtained his Kart racing licence in 2007. In 2010 Ollie was crowned Forest Edge Kart Club champion in the Junior Rotax class before moving onto the Super 1 class, which is arguably the hardest racing series. Lewis Hamiton, Jenson Button, David Coulthard have all competed in this series. In 2012 Ollie signed for P1R squad where the focus on fitness and stamina lead to scoring a number of top 6 places, in what was a tough championship.
In 2013 Ollie tested for the Michelin Clio Cup series with Pyro Motorsport, with the intention of competing in the full series in 2014. In the final round of 2013 Clio Cup, Ollie came away with a podium, fastest lap and the youngest person to achieve this being a few weeks away from his 16th Birthday!
The 2014 season saw Ollie get 7 Class wins, numerous fastest laps and an enormous amount of track and racing knowledge.
In 2015 Ollie tried single-seater racing in the MSA Formula with limited success. He did add to his track knowledge as well getting RWD racing experience.
2016 saw Ollie switch back to Clio’s with Ciceley Racing, securing 4th place in the Graduates cup for Drivers under 23, before moving in 2017 to Pyro Motorsport, back to where his motor racing career began.
In 2018 Ollie decided to follow a number of Clio racers and moved up to the MINI CHALLENGE UK race series. He is currently being run by Excelr8 Motorsport. Support is from Partridge MINI and OEP. The races at Rockingham saw Ollie getting a great run P5 in qualifying and a P6 his highest to date. Ollie is still learning the car and setups.
