MINI CHALLENGE TO SUPPORT DTM RETURN TO BRANDS HATCH

The MINI CHALLENGE JCW Championship will support the DTM’s return to Brands Hatch this year after confirming a change to the provisional calendar.

The 265bhp JCWs will now compete in two races to support the German touring car category’s return to the Brands Hatch Grand Prix Circuit on August 11/12.

The round replaces the originally scheduled races on the British GT and BRDC British Formula 3 package a week earlier.

Having the chance to run alongside DTM is a really rare opportunity and something we didn’t want to turn down,” said championship promoter Antony Williams.

“The DTM is a huge championship, so racing alongside it is naturally great for the profile of the MINI CHALLENGE. It also means having the MINI brand represented strongly on the same stage as [parent firm] BMW, Audi and Mercedes, which all compete in the DTM.

We consulted many of the drivers and teams about the change and they were overwhelmingly in favour. We’re really looking forward to running with the DTM this year, and also being part of the British GT and BRDC Formula 3 events for much of the remainder of the calendar.
